How do you do that without the sand falling apart or falling down? Is it wet sand and then it dries?

We put sand in wooden or plastic forms of the seize we choose, we add a lot of water, pound it and repeat until we get the height we need. Once compacted, the sand is solid enough to stay up tall and nice to carve. When we are done, we add a coat of glue mixed with water to create a thin protective coating that prevent wind and even rain from eroding it. Still, it's not permanent outdoor, but could last "forever" indoor.
